Building the North Shore MobilityTech Ecosystem

Connecting Technology, Talent, Infrastructure and Real-World Needs

The Advanced Mobility Technologies Institute (AMTI) is working to establish the North Shore of Massachusetts as a leading regional ecosystem for advanced transportation, autonomous systems, and MobilityTech innovation.

The region brings together industry, educational institutions, transportation infrastructure, coastal and urban operating environments, government partners, and a skilled workforce. AMTI connects these assets to advance applied research, develop talent, support economic growth, and move promising technologies from concept to real-world deployment.

The North Shore Advantage

The North Shore provides a distinctive environment for developing and applying advanced mobility technologies across the air, surface, sea, and undersea domains.

Regional assets include:

  • Aviation, aerospace, robotics, and autonomous-systems companies
  • Maritime, ocean, and underwater technology capabilities
  • Roadway, rail, transit, port, airport, and coastal infrastructure
  • Defense, security, and dual-use technology organizations
  • Colleges, universities, research institutions, and workforce partners
  • Transportation agencies, municipalities, and infrastructure owners
  • Entrepreneurs, technology startups, and established industry
  • Diverse urban, suburban, coastal, and maritime operating environments

Together, these capabilities create opportunities to address real transportation, infrastructure, public-safety, environmental, and economic-development needs.

Massachusetts TechHub

A state-recognized TechHub for the region

As a designated Massachusetts TechHub, AMTI embodies the program’s goals by aligning industry, academia, government and military to accelerate emerging technology sectors. Its focus areas—mobility, aviation, and applied robotics—mirror the TechHub initiative’s emphasis on regional competitiveness, support for scaling companies, and inclusive job growth.

By integrating MassTech Collaborative partnerships and advancing applied research through Endicott College, AMTI serves as a model for how regional collaboration can translate innovation into implementation, positioning the North Shore as a critical node in the state’s growing technology network.
